The peak demand was recorded at around 10:41 AM, making it the highest electricity demand ever recorded in Telangana. The new record has crossed the previous peak of 19,506 MW, which was recorded on March 27 this year.
Power Demand Rises Sharply
The latest figures show a significant increase in electricity usage across the state. Power demand on the same day last year was around 15,906 MW, meaning the latest peak is approximately 23 percent higher.
The rise in demand is being linked to increased consumption from households, agriculture, businesses and industries. Higher temperatures and greater use of cooling equipment have also added to electricity requirements.
Despite the sharp increase, power utilities were able to meet the record demand without major interruptions.
Officials Monitor Power Supply
Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka reviewed the power situation with senior officials and directed the departments concerned to maintain a reliable electricity supply across Telangana.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation and taking steps to ensure that power supply remains stable even if demand increases further.
The government is also focusing on strengthening the state's power infrastructure to handle growing electricity requirements in the coming years.
Focus on Future Power Requirements
With Telangana's electricity demand continuing to grow, the government is looking at both immediate and long-term measures to ensure sufficient power availability.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to review the Energy Department's plans, including strategies to meet the state's future electricity needs.
The latest record of 19,543 MW highlights the rapidly growing demand for electricity in Telangana and the need for continued investment in power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure.
For Telangana, the new power-demand record is another indication of the state's growing residential, agricultural, commercial and industrial energy needs.
