Passengers flying with IndiGo across India – including from
Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) – faced long delays
and cancellations for the third day in a row on Thursday.
Why are IndiGo flights getting delayed?
According to aviation reports, IndiGo has cancelled or delayed hundreds of flights nationwide
over the last two days after struggling to adjust to new
DGCA pilot duty & rest rules (FDTL norms), which limit night flying
and increase mandatory rest periods for crew. This, combined with
crew shortage, technology and operational issues, has severely disrupted
its network across major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The DGCA has launched a probe and asked IndiGo to submit a mitigation plan, while the airline
has publicly apologised for the “significant disruption” and said it is temporarily
realigning schedules to stabilise operations.
What is the situation in Hyderabad?
At Hyderabad RGIA, airport sources and local reports say
dozens of IndiGo flights have been affected:
- Many outbound flights from Hyderabad have been cancelled or are running late.
- A similar number of incoming IndiGo flights are also impacted.
- RGIA has confirmed that some IndiGo services are hit due to
airline-related tech and operational issues, leading to long waits
and crowding at the terminal.
Passengers have reported waiting over 10–12 hours in some cases, with
repeated rescheduling and limited clarity on alternative arrangements.
What should passengers do?
- Check your flight status on the IndiGo app/website or RGIA live flight page before leaving home.
- Reach out to IndiGo customer support for rebooking or refund options if your flight is cancelled.
- Carry basic essentials (water, snacks, chargers, medicines) in case of extended waits at the airport.
This is a developing situation. More updates are expected as IndiGo and the DGCA work on
stabilising the schedule over the next couple of days.
