Hyderabad Police have announced new guidelines for this year’s Ganesh Utsav, limiting the maximum height of Ganesh idols to 16 feet to ensure safer and smoother celebrations across the city.
The decision was taken during a coordination meeting between Hyderabad Police and idol manufacturers, chaired by Police Commissioner CV Anand. The height restriction was introduced after discussions with the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi.
As part of the new rules, organisers must obtain prior permission from the traffic police before transporting large Ganesh idols. They have also been advised to avoid moving idols during peak traffic hours and share transportation schedules in advance.
To reduce traffic congestion, the police will create special transport routes for idol movement from major manufacturing areas such as Dhoolpet, Jalpally, and Mailardevpally. Authorities said these measures aim to prevent accidents and ensure the safe installation, procession, and immersion of Ganesh idols during the festival.
