Hyderabad, February 24, 2026:
Hyderabad experienced unexpected rainfall today as cloudy skies and intermittent showers covered several parts of the city. The sudden change in weather brought relief from dry conditions and surprised residents who were accustomed to clear February skies.
According to weather officials, the rainfall is the result of moisture movement from the Bay of Bengal combined with changing wind patterns over Telangana. While February typically remains dry and pleasant, this brief spell of rain has altered the usual weather trend in the city.
Several areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits reported light to moderate showers during the morning hours. In some localities, brief thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds were also observed.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that more isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible later in the day. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, especially during evening hours when lightning activity could increase. Motorists are urged to drive carefully due to slippery road conditions.
Despite the rainfall, daytime temperatures are expected to hover around 29°C to 31°C, while night temperatures may dip to nearly 19°C. The cloud cover has slightly reduced the daytime heat, offering temporary relief.
Weather experts suggest that the current system may weaken over the next day or two, after which Hyderabad is likely to return to its regular warm and dry pattern.
Citizens are encouraged to stay updated with official weather alerts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity.
